  • Who I am

Born in the US and grew up in China, Jeanette moved to the US in her early twenties to pursue a career in Psychology.

Jeanette knew she wanted to be a therapist since she was a teenager. Growing up in boarding school, she had to navigate the pain of abandonment, institutionalization, and complex attachment trauma at a young age. As a teen, she felt utterly alone in her existence. That was when Jeanette decided, one day, she would be there to relieve the suffering of others who feel as much pain as she did.

Jeanette has her share of struggles with addiction. For many years, alcohol was her secret remedy for soothing the unspoken pain within. What started off as a solution later became a problem. Today, Jeanette has been able to find peace and healing in her recovery. With deep empathy and compassion, she is committed to hearing the untold stories of many others who struggle with addiction and helping them to cultivate a new, healthy, and more mindful relationship with substances, and with themselves.

    How I work

Initial Phone Consultation– 25 minutes, free

I believe it’s important for us to get a sense of each other. During this 15-minute consultation, we will briefly discuss what is bringing you to therapy and what you hope to get out. If we decide that I might be a good fit for your needs, we will go ahead and schedule two initial assessment sessions. If we agree that your needs might be better served by someone else, I will happily refer you to one of my colleagues in the therapist community.

Initial Assessment – two 60 minutes sessions, $200 each

Our first few sessions are important for me to learn more about you, who you are, where you come from, and how you see yourself. At our first two appointments, we will go over in detail your current symptoms, past mental health history, family of origin, and your social supports and situation. At the end of the initial assessment, I will share with you my initial impressions and my sense of what I think we’ll need to explore, with the understanding that these might be refined and evolving over time.

    On-going Therapy – 50 minutes, $160 per session

Once we mutually decide that we are a good fit, we will meet regularly.

Here, we’ll slow down and help you begin to connect to the places where change happens. Developing mindfulness, noticing what it’s like to be with your internal experience without trying to change it, is an important first step. I may invite you to be aware of thoughts, body sensations, images, memories, or feelings that arise as you’re talking.

We’ll get curious about the way you see yourself in the world. We will work together to understand the patterns in your emotions, thoughts, and beliefs to gain insight into your current self.

We’ll explore the self-limiting beliefs that may have developed into an identity and their costs in your life now, and the coping mechanisms that you create to protect yourself when you are younger that come to enclose and restrict you as you grow up. At your own pace, we’ll work slowly to dismantle each self-limiting belief and coping mechanism. As your therapist, my job is to assist you in discovering what you already know and becoming your true authentic self.

    Payment & Insurance

I am only accepting payment by credit card at this time. I require that a credit card be on file before our first appointment.

At this time, I am not currently on any insurance panels as I want to practice psychotherapy unencumbered by insurance companies’ administrative burdens. I can provide a “superbill” at the end of each session with all the necessary information for you to seek partial reimbursement by insurance.

    Cancellation Policy

Due to the limited hours of my practice, I require that all cancellations and requests to reschedule be made 24 business hours in advance. For example, if your appointment is scheduled for Sunday at 5pm, I require notice of cancellation by Friday at 5pm of the week prior.

    Any Other Questions
